Shelton, Washington is a small town an hour south of Seattle. It is a logging town where my father grew up. The rate is steadily increasing, maybe due to the improvement of education as well as the housing market increasing. This can cause individuals who work in larger cities to move to smaller, inexpensive towns. The reason for a larger female than male population at an older age is due to the physical labor of working in mills, industrial settings, and health habits such as smoking.
New York City has a larger population between the ages of 20-44 due to the amount of young adults who move for their education or career. The rate is steady in the middle ages due to families in burrows, as well as individuals who work in large corporations at the heart of the city.
Auburn is a college town which is why the age group of 20-24 is so large. The other age groups have small numbers due to the actual small population of residents who live in the town. My cousin, who lived in Auburn moved after college, a suggestion that college students do not often stay in the city for the rest of the duration of their life.
Similar to Auburn, Bowling Green is a college town but has steady adult numbers. Perhaps it is a more local college town where the student population is from the area, explaining steady adult numbers.
Casper, Wyoming has a steady population growth and is actually slightly increasing. It slightly compares to the baby boomer generation as well as the wake of those babies growing and having children.
Brigantine is a small beach town in New Jersey with a larger 40+ population. This is most likely a town that adults come back to live in for the later years of their life. It is perhaps desirable in retirement or for raising children.
